Rooted in Faith, Growing in Grace

A Heritage of Faith, A Future in Christ

About Us

We are a congregation of Christians, sound in the teaching of the Gospel, upright in character, sacrificial in spirit, and friendly in nature.

Christ charged his disciples with the “Great Commission” to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. We believe it is our mission to reach out to the Moore County communities of Aberdeen, Cameron, Carthage, Pinehurst, Robbins, Southern Pines, Seven Lakes, Vass, West End, and the surrounding communities.

New Testament Christianity and Worship

It is our purpose to practice Christianity as it was during the first century. The inspired word of God is the only authority and standard by which we live and worship.

You will notice three distinct facts about our worship services.

  1. Our worship is “in spirit and truth” – John 4:23-24

  2. Our worship is “for edification” – 1 Cor. 14:26

  3. Our worship is to be “decently and in order”

1 Cor. 14:40

Christianity is not merely a religion, it is a lifestyle. In order to live the life that God designed, an individual must be willing to forsake sin and all worldly pleasures and cares. It is because of sin that Jesus came down from heaven and gave his life on the cross.

Our Journey of Faith and Service

A Foundation Rooted in Scripture

The story of Carthage Church of Christ is one of unwavering commitment to faith, scripture, and community. Our congregation first gathered during the summer of 2004, as a group of believers was inspired by Christ's directive and the significance of Pentecost. Early meetings were humble, yet filled with purpose and anticipation for what God would bring.

On October 17, 2004, this vision became reality when we held our first official worship service, joined by friends and support from sister congregations. With just 28 souls in attendance, a legacy began - not simply of numbers, but of hearts united by the desire to worship God in spirit and in truth. The pioneering members were fueled not by tradition alone but by a longing to embrace the original pattern of the New Testament church, focusing on the inspired word as the foundation for every act of worship and service.

From the very beginning, our church was dedicated to sharing the gospel, nurturing spiritual growth, and building a community where every individual feels cherished. These first steps shaped our identity and set a standard for biblical living that guides us to this very day.

Growing Together in Christ's Love

Since our establishment, the Carthage Church of Christ family has flourished both spiritually and numerically. Through God's guidance, we have witnessed steady growth, expanding our reach throughout Carthage, Moore County, Lee County, and beyond. In June 2009, we began construction on a new facility, thoughtfully designed with classrooms, a fellowship hall, and warm spaces for learning and connecting.

Today, our congregation is recognized not only for scriptural worship but also for its vibrant involvement in Bible studies, outreach, family events, and service projects that touch the lives of many. Every milestone reflects our ongoing commitment to live out the teachings of Jesus - striving to serve, encourage, and bring hope to our neighbors. Each gathering is an opportunity to edify one another, strengthen our walk with Christ, and extend a loving invitation to all who enter our doors.

Our heritage continues to grow as new faces join our family, bringing fresh enthusiasm for our mission. Together, we honor our beginnings by remaining steadfast to biblical principles, while embracing the needs and opportunities of today's world. We welcome you to grow with us, discovering faith, fellowship, and a purpose-driven life in Christ.

Our Minister

Early beginnings for Carthage Church of Christ began in July 2004. On October 17, 2004 the congregation had its first service with assistance from several congregations of the Church of Christ throughout the brotherhood. The first service had about 28 in attendance. The congregation has continued to grow spiritually and in numbers, since inception and strives to remain focus to its ultimate goal of sharing Christ to our community. Through the grace of God, ground broke in June 2009 for a new facility with a seating capacity of over 200, seven classrooms, fully furnished kitchen and fellowship hall, library, sound room, office. Randy Chambers is the minister of the congregation; he is a 2004 graduate of the Memphis School of Preaching.
